Outtake Chapter Six - Interviewing

Interview preparation should be developed as a skill for anyone serious about getting hired. I always tried to anticipate every question that might be asked of me and made sure that I had a perfect answer. I wrote out the questions and my answers and rehearsed, practicing inflection, tone of voice, etc. It's nerdy but effective. The typical softball question in my list of questions prepared for the Senior Keeper interview was, "Why would you be a good choice for the position.” I was ready for it and hit it out of the park. My pre-written answer concluded: “Finally, I am personable, smartly dressed, and look better than average in keeper brown.” Showing a sense of humor almost always works in your favor.
